Tulip Birthday Cards

Tulips are my favorite flower. I've loved them since I was a small child. My mom had a small patch of tulips in our backyard when I was a little girl. That's where my love of tulips began. I remember watering them with my little metal sprinkling can and bringing a small bouquet of tulips and lilacs to my teacher when I was in kindergarten. The Altenew Tulip Craft-a-Flower die set that I used to make these cards is amazing! You can use it to make beautiful tulips from colored cardstock. I decided to use shades of purple, pink, and yellow to make 3 birthday cards using the die set. I'm really pleased with how these cards turned out. I was hesitant to purchase the die set because it was a little pricey, but I decided to splurge on it because it's my favorite flower and I know I will use it on lots of cards and projects.

New Home Card

I needed a card for someone that recently purchased a home and I wanted it to be simple, yet pretty. I went through my stash of supplies and grabbed some dies, an embossing folder and pretty floral papers and then started to brainstorm ideas for the card. After several failed attempts, I came up with this design. I really love the floral papers and how they look bright and cheery against the white brick embossed background.

Aqua Tulip Thank You Card

I watched the Gina K's Kraft Magic with Prismacolor Pencils and Kraft Cardstock video yesterday and was inspired to make one of these cards. Her video included lots of cool tips and tricks that I used to make this card. The first thing I noticed about her card was how the pencil colors popped against the white embossing powder and the kraft cardstock. For my card, I used a tulip stamp from Hero Arts along with Prismacolor Pencils. I had to use regular white embossing powder because I didn't have fine detail embossing powder in my stash. I can see how the fine detail embossing powder would have worked better on the fine lines of the stamp. I will definitely need to purchase some of that powder!
