Llama & Cactus Christmas Card

Jaded Blossom and Lawn Fawn Cactus and Llama Card

I won Jaded Blossom's July Color Challenge and I chose their Succulent Christmas stamp set as my prize. It's a very cute set! I used one of the cactus stamps from the set along with the Winter Alpaca stamp set from Lawn Fawn to create this card. I think the two stamp sets look adorable together! I combined a few different techniques to create this card and I loved how it turned out.

If you'd like to make this card, keep reading for the instructions, as well as a full list of the supplies I used to create the card.

Let's Make This Card!

Snow Embossing Folder

Cut a piece of white cardstock into a 4-1/4" x 5-1/2" rectangle and use a snow embossing folder to create a snowy background.

Lawn Fawn Stitched Scallop Window Die

You will need to complete the following 3 steps to make the red background. First, cut a piece of red cardstock using the largest Lawn Fawn Stitched Rectangle die. Next, use the largest Lawn Fawn Stitched Scallop Circle Windows die to cut a window in the red cardstock.

The last step is to use an embossing folder to emboss the cactus background. Make sure you do this step LAST because the embossing will flatten if you run it through the die cutting machine after it has been embossed.

Blending Distress Oxide Ink Salty Ocean

Next, cut a hill out of white cardstock using a Lawn Fawn Simple Stitched Hillside Border die. I used a blender brush to apply Distress Oxide Ink in salty ocean to the top part of the hill. To add some interest, I flicked water onto the ink and blotted it off with a paper towel. I also added tiny white specks on the hill by watering down white paint and flicking it onto the hill using a tiny paint brush.

Blending Distress Oxide Ink Mowed Lawn

It's now time to make the title. Cut 3 layers of the word merry out of white cardstock using a Lawn Fawn Scripty Merry die. Glue the 3 layers on top of each other to create a thicker title. Use a blending brush to apply Distress Oxide Ink in mowed lawn to the word. I also used the blender brush to tap some of the ink in random spots on the word so that it would be darker in some areas.

Jaded Blossom Succulent Christmas Stamps

Next, stamp, color and fussy cut the cactus from the Jaded Blossom Succulent Christmas stamp set. I used the following Copic markers to color the image: E31, E34, E39 for the planter, YG13, YG17 for the cactus, BG96 for the wreath, R46 for the bow and B00, B02 for the ornament and berries on the wreath. I also used a Pentel Milky Pop white pen to add details to the cactus. You will need to fussy cut this image because there isn't a coordinating die set.

Lawn Fawn Winter Alpaca Stamp
Stamp, color & die cut the alpaca using the Lawn Fawn Winter Alpaca stamp and die set. I used the following Copic markers to color the image: N0, N2, N4 for the body, E31 for the face, RV52 for the cheek, B00, B02 for the scarf. I used a black gel pen to enhance the eye and a Pentel Milky Pop white pen to add dots to the alpaca's body, cheek and scarf.

Sunny Studio Holiday Alpaca Stamp Set

Stamp, color and die cut the gift packages from the Sunny Studio Alpaca Holiday stamp and die set. I used the following Copic markers to color the images: R46 and YG13 for the large red package and YG13, B02, R46 for the two smaller packages. I used the Pentel Milky Pop pen again to add dots to the packages.

Snow Scene for Christmas Card

It's time to start assembling the card! Glue the snowy hill to the card, making sure enough of it will show in the window.

Snow Scene Christmas Card

Attach the red piece to the snow background using adhesive foam strips.

This can now be attached to the front of an A2 size card.

Cactus and Alpaca Llama Stamps

Use adhesive foam dots to attach the scene inside the window. Use the photo as reference for placement of the pieces.

In this photo you can see how using adhesive foam strips and dots adds dimension to the card.

Lawn Fawn Merry Scripty Word Die

The final step is to glue the word merry under the window on the front of the card.
