Halloween Haunted House Clipboard

Fall is just around the corner and it always makes me want to make Halloween mixed media projects. I made this spooky Halloween haunted house clipboard using tons of Tim Holtz products and techniques. His haunted house dies are always fabulous! The Distress Oxide Ink and Distress Mica Spray background set the scene for this spooky haunted house and graveyard mixed media piece. The headstones look like they've been sitting in the graveyard for hundreds of years and the fence looks like real wrought iron. I absolutely love how this project turned out!

I need to give a special shout out to Emma Williams because I've learned so much from her and it helped me gain the confidence to make this project. Thanks, Emma!

I used the Tim Holtz Haunted House Die #662378. I backed the windows with yellow cardstock & filled in the windows with Glossy Accents to make the windows look like real glass.

Black embossing powder and a spider web stamp were used to make the spider webs on the front of the haunted house. I also used fine grit sandpaper to rub off some of the black cardstock to age the house.

The background sky is a combination of dusty concord, faded jeans, stormy sky, antique linen, chipped sapphire, hickory smoke, and black soot Distress Oxide Inks as well as brushed pewter Distress Mica Spray.

I used the Tim Holtz Graveyard Die Set #662377 for the ghost, head stones and wrought iron fence. Distress Grit-Paste along with black soot, peeled paint, and walnut stain Distress Crayons were used to give the head stones a realistic stone and mossy appearance.

I made the fence look like wrought iron by using gold and black embossing powders. The ghost was cut from plain white cardstock and splattered with black soot Distress Paint.

I arranged a Tim Holtz pumpkin, skull, bones and a Halloween Quote Chip along the bottom of the clipboard. I rubbed a walnut stain Distress Crayon on the bones, skull and pumpkin to make them look aged and dirty. Additionally, I added moss from my stash  to the graveyard scene.

A Tim Holtz hinge clip was used to attach a black key and a 31 token to the side of the clipboard. I rubbed some picket fence Distress Paint onto the token and the clip.

To complete the piece, I smooshed a wrinkled, damp piece of Hug Snug Seam Binding into a combination of dusty concord, stormy sky and antique linen Distress Oxide Inks to make the bow. The bow was attached to the top of the clipboard along with a skull cameo brooch.

That completes the clipboard! I hope you enjoyed reading how I made this spooky haunted house clipboard.
