Treat yo' self Card

I was in the mood to make an ice cream card yesterday because the heat index was 100 degrees! What could be better than ice cream on a hot and humid summer day? I pulled out my Jaded Blossom ice cream cone stamp set and starting to think of ideas for my card. We like to use the phrase "treat yo' self" at my house because we are huge Parks and Rec fans. I decided to combine the ice cream cone stamp set and the "treat yo' self" quote to make this card.  Keep reading for directions on how to make this card as well as a full list of supplies.

Continue reading if you'd like to see how I made this card

Let's make this card:

The first step is to stamp 2 ice cream cone images onto kraft cardstock using Distress Oxide Ink in vintage photo. You will need to fussy cut the stamped images because there isn't a set of dies to go with the stamps. I know some people hate to fussy cut, but this image is super easy to cut.

Next stamp the ice cream images onto polka dot paper using Distress Oxide Ink in vintage photo.  You can substitute the vintage photo ink for ink that matches the colors of your papers if you prefer. I used pink, blue and purple polka dot papers from Pebbles. You will also need to fussy cut the stamped ice cream images.

Cut a small heart out of purple polka dot paper. You can use a either a small punch or a small die to cut the heart. I used a small heart die from Lawn Fawn.

I used my Silhouette Cameo to cut the word treat out of black cardstock. The name of the font is Hello Friend Brush Font and it can be purchased from the Silhouette store. I resized it to approximately 2.866" long so that it would fit under the ice cream cones and within the frame of the card. I typed up "yo'self" in Word using a size 18 Century font. This was printed onto plain white cardstock and trimmed to fit under the treat title.

Next up is the blue frame. I used a Stitched Rectangle Scallop Edge Frame die from My Favorite Things to die cut the frame out of starmist Bazzill cardstock.

Make the background by embossing a 4-1/4" x 5-1/2" piece of white cardstock using a Darice diagonal stripe embossing folder.

It's time to assemble the card! First glue the blue scallop edge frame to the front of the embossed background.

The next step is to attach the ice cream cones to the front of the card. I used adhesive foam dots to attach the cones to the card so that the card would have some dimension. Attach both cones on a slight angle. The cone on the right should be slightly lower than the one on the left. Use a small foam dot to attach the small heart to the ice cream cone on the left.

The final step is to glue your sentiment onto the card. Glue the word "treat" under the ice cream cones. Finally, glue the "yo' self" sentiment strip under the letter "a" in the word treat. You are now finished with this card! I hope you enjoyed learning how to make this ice cream card. It's now time to "Treat yo' self" to some real ice cream!
