Birthday Wishes Cake Card

My Favorite Things Cake Die

This is my card entry into the My Favorite Things Color Challenge #146

I used the Cake die set from My Favorite Things along with one of their Stitch Rectangle Scallop Edge Frame dies to create this card. The cake dies are small so you can easily use scraps to make the layers of the cake. A Darice numbers embossing folder was used to create the background of the card. I love how the colors of the cake pop against the stark white background. A small sentiment stamp was used to finish the card. This card took only a few minutes to create. It's the perfect solution if you need to make a last minute birthday card, but still want something that looks pretty. You can also make several of these cards to have in your card stash, changing the color scheme for variety.

If you'd like to make this card, keep reading for the instructions, as well as a full list of the supplies I used to create the card.

My Favorite Things Color Challenge

This is the color palette for the My Favorite Things Color Challenge #146

Darice Number Embossing Folder

The first step is to create the embossed background for the card. Cut white cardstock into a 4-1/4" x 5-1/2" rectangle. Next, emboss the rectangle using a  Darice numbers embossing folder. The numbers will be more prominent if you run it through your machine twice.

My Favorite Things Rectangle Scallop Frame Die

Next, use a My Favorite Things Stitched Rectangle Scallop Edge die to cut the frame. I used the second largest die from the set.

Darice Number Embossing Folder

Next, glue the frame to the embossed background.

My Favorite Things Cake Die

Now it's time to cut the cake!

My Favorite Things Cake Die

I used a different color cardstock for each layer of the cake. The brown cardstock was used to make the "chocolate" icing of the cake.

Next, glue the cake pieces to the card.

Birthday Wishes Stamp

You are almost finished! The final step is to stamp the "Birthday Wishes" sentiment onto coral cardstock. I used a sentiment stamp from the BoBunny Balloon Party stamp set and Distress Oxide Ink in Vintage Photo. I hand cut the tag and glued it onto the upper right hand corner of the card. See, wasn't that easy? I hope you enjoyed making this card!
